Sight glass
Sight glasses are fitted as level indicators and for visual control of flows pressure vessels subjected to thermal and chemical stresses.
Level gauge glass are manufactered in two types - reflex and transparent. Reflex glass for level indicator is a rectangular glass plate with rounded edges. One of its viewing surfaces - is smooth and the other surface has prismatic risks. Maximum permissible temperature: 300оС (with mica - 320оС). Reflex level gauge glasses are installed in gauges that have a housing closed at the back. The incident light is refracted by the reflective grooves of the glass in the media-carrying area of the fitting. The area in which the liquid medium is located is thus shown as a dark bar – in contrast to the silvery gaseous area.
Transparent gauge glass. Level gauge glass for level indicator is a rectangular glass plate with rounded edges, the sight glass has smooth viewing and opposite surfaces. Maximum permissible temperature: 300оС (with mica - 320оС). These glasses are mainly used in gauges open on both sides for high pressure applications. The incident light (daylight or that of a luminaire) passes through both sight glasses between which the medium is located. The level is visible as a line or through the medium itself.
Tempered reflex and transparent level gauge glasses manufactured in a wide variety of sizes from № 0 to № 11.
MAXOS sight glasses made of SUPRAX® 8488 borosilicate glass. The brand MAXOS owned by a German company Auer Lighting Gmbh.
